In this review, we’ll share our thoughts on Aurochs wallets to help you decide if they’re what you need for your everyday carry.
The Aurochs Nova Wallet and Nano Card Holder are the perfect blend of quality and affordability. Not only are they reasonably priced, but they’re also made with high-quality leather.
About Aurochs
A heritage leather company from Pakistan, Aurochs is named after the ancient ancestor to today’s oxen.
They source their leather from a Southeast Asian tannery that only takes leather from farm animals bred for meat and milk. This minimizes animal suffering while maintaining an exceptionally smooth and high quality leather.
What I Tried
I tried two of Aurochs most popular products:
Now, let’s look at each wallet in more detail…
Aurochs Nano Card Holder
We love slim and minimalist wallets here at The Modest Man — and the new Nano Card Holder from Aurochs is about as slim and minimal as it gets.
It easily competes with my favorite front pocket wallets, and is thinner than a bifold.
In this Aurochs Nano Card Holder review, I’ll give you the inside scoop on what really makes this wallet special, and why I’ve started rotating it into my everyday carry setup.
Quick Take
If you carry just a few cards and a little bit of cash, you don’t really need a full-sized bifold. The Aurochs Nano Card Holder is a minimalist’s dream wallet, and its super soft leather feels broken in from day one. Definitely Modest Man approved.
Pros
- Super slim
- Soft leather
- Small and refined stitching
Cons
- Very limited carrying capacity
Specs for the Aurochs Nano Card Holder
- Holds 4-5 bills and up to 8 cards
- Measures 7.8 cm by 9.8 cm
- Available with an RFID blocker
What I Like
For a guy like me that carries about 5 cards and a few bills of cash, even the slimmest of bifold wallets can feel bulky. The Aurochs Nano Card Holder pares its design down to an absolute minimum, making it slimmer than any other front pocket wallet.
And for the price, all of Auroch’s products feel really exceptionally well made. The leather is super soft, and it feels broken in from the first day you use it. This means you won’t have that awkward adjustment period where it’s hard to get cards in and out of a stiff leather.
So yeah, if you’re looking to really slim down your everyday carry, this is an excellent choice.
What I Don’t Like
I honestly don’t have much bad to say about Auroch’s Nano Card Holder.
It’s a well-made product that’s made to be as slim and minimal as possible. Of course, if you want to carry more than about six cards and a few bills, it’s not going to be a great fit for you.
Final Verdict
The Aurochs Nano Card Holder is perfect for a guy like me that wants a super slim and minimalist way to carry their cards and bills.
The leather quality and stitching are great, and I can strongly recommend it for anyone looking to pare down their everyday carry.
Aurochs Nova Front Pocket Wallet
Sitting on your wallet all day is a great way to put your spine out of alignment, inevitably leading to back pains. So ditch the old oversized back pocket wallets, and upgrade to a slim and low-profile front pocket wallet.
Aurochs’ Nova Front Pocket Wallet is an awesome example of the style, offered at a really affordable price with top quality materials and workmanship.
In this review, I’ll cover everything you need to know about the wallet before giving my verdict on who should buy it (and who should pass).
Quick Take
Made with a really soft, buttery leather, the Aurochs Nova Front Pocket Wallet feels like it should be sold at about twice its list price. If you like the bifold format but want a small, slim, minimalist wallet, it’s an excellent choice.
Pros
- Great leather quality, already feels broken in
- Very affordable for the quality
- Small and slim take on the bifold style
Cons
- Carrying too much cash will make it lose some of its shape
- 10 card capacity before it starts to get bulky
Specs for the Aurochs Nova Front Pocket Wallet
- 100% full grain leather
- Holds 5 to 6 bills and 10 to 12 cars
- Optional RFID shield
- 9.8 cm tall by 8.4 cm wide (about 4 by 3.5 inches)
What I Like
By diverging from the traditional billfold model, Aurochs’ front pocket wallet keeps a lot of the functionality with none of the bulk.
Capable of holding about 10 cards and 5 or 6 bills, it’s a slim and minimalist alternative to larger bifold wallets.
At about ⅔ the size of an iPhone, it really is a low-profile wallet that won’t disrupt the lines of your slacks.
Combine that with a rich, soft leather and affordable pricing, and you have one heck of a front pocket wallet.
What I Don’t Like
When you start approaching the maximum holding capacity for this wallet, it really quickly loses its shape.
This isn’t a problem in the pocket, but it might not sit flatly closed on a table.
So if you’re not actually committed to minimalist EDC, or carry a lot of cash on you, it may not be a great choice.
Questions About Aurochs
And to wrap things up, I’d like to take a minute to answer some of the questions I’ve heard guys asking about Aurochs, in general.
What do other people say about Aurochs?
Surveying other reviews, people are generally impressed with the quality and craftsmanship of Aurochs’s products. A few reviewers find their Gravity Wallet to be a little too big to carry comfortably, with the Nano Card Holder being a better alternative in those cases.
Does Aurochs have a return and exchange policy?
They do! From the Aurochs website:
If you are not completely satisfied with your purchase, we have got you covered with our 100 days no-questions-asked refund policy. You can return any item that is unused and is in new condition to us for a full refund or exchange it with another product.
Please note that the return shipping amount is not covered in the refund and will have to be paid by the customer at the time of booking the return shipment.
Does Aurochs ship everywhere?
They do! Products are packed and shipped within two days of ordering, and can be sent via DHL or economy shipment. Economy shipping is significantly cheaper, but may take up to 5 weeks to get to your mailbox.
The Verdict: Great Wallets for the Price
The Aurochs Nova Front Pocket Wallet and Nano Card Holder are most definitely Modest Man approved. They’re putting really high-quality leather and workmanship into well-designed wallets, and it’s pretty amazing that they can offer them at such a low price.
If price isn’t an issue for you, consider a higher end wallet maker like Anson Calder.
