Are you looking for the closest shave you can get for your head? We put Manscaped’s Dome Shaver Pro to the test. Here’s how it did.
There are no ifs, ands, or buts about it: shaving is a complete pain, especially if you have the wrong shaver. Then, add that you’re shaving your head, and it’s a complete nightmare. After all, the scalp ranks near the top of the most sensitive places on the body.
Manscaped allowed The Modest Man to try out the newest grooming tool in their lineup: The Dome Shaver Pro.
And let us tell you, it definitely lives up to the hype. Here’s everything we loved about the Dome.
Mancaped Brand History
CEO Paul Tran founded Manscaped in 2016 with the desire to tap into an underserved market. While there were many facial trimmers on the market, nothing catered to men’s “other” grooming needs. The brand saw a need to deliver a safe trimmer to help men stay “kept” below the belt.
Manscaped hit the market in 2017 with their first product: The Lawnmower. Manscaped delivered more than just another trimmer on store shelves. They opened the conversation about grooming beyond men’s faces and heads.
Additionally, Manscaped partners with the Testicular Cancer Society to help educate men about early detection and self-screening. While you may find the “Together We Save Balls” motto a bit childish, that’s the appeal. Undoubtedly, the brand is doing good work.
The brand strives to evolve to help men be “the best versions of themselves they can be.” Since 2017, the brand has evolved from its below-the-waist beginnings.
They offer several products, including beard trimmers, travel shavers, nose hair trimmers and skin care products. The newest product in their lineup is the Dome Shaver Pro.
The Dome Shaver Pro Key Features
Before we dive into our review, here are a few key features to familiarize yourself with the Dome Shaver Pro.
The Dome features a flexible neck, ultra-thin Japanese stainless-steel foils, and five independent floating triple-track blade heads. Floating blades are essential for a head shaver.
This design allows for contoured shaving since a head has various curves.
Additionally, this design allows for comfort and efficient haircutting. The independent blades allow you to cut hair from different angles. Thus leaving you with a cleaner and closer shave.
The Dome Shaver Pro also features the following:
- Curved and Magnetic Detachable Blade Pad
- Waterproof
- Long Lasting Rechargeable Battery
- 9,500 RPM Motor
- Ergonomic Handle
- Hair Chamber
- Travel Lock
- USB-C and Wireless Charging Compatibility
First Impressions of The Dome Shaver Pro
Off the bat, the Dome Pro Shave is a nice size and comfortable to hold.
The single-head blades are a huge plus. My current shaver has separate heads that flip up for each blade, which makes it easier to break. One of the blades actually broke off on my second use, so having a shaver with one head is awesome!
I also like that it comes with a USB-C charger. I use this to charge my phone and other electronics, so I don’t have to pack several chargers when traveling.
Speaking of travel, the Dome has a nice travel lock, so you know it won’t start buzzing in your dopp kit. Additionally, it comes with its own handy travel case to keep everything together and intact.
My Hands-On Manscaped Dome Shaver Pro Review
To start, let me say that I’ve been bald for the past 15 years. I used regular bladed razors to shave my head for the longest time.
About a year ago, I picked up my first electric head shaver. It instantly made my head-shaving routine much more efficient and allowed me to go between shaves with a blade longer. I still shave my head with a razor, probably 2-3 times per month.
I typically shave every 2 to 4 days with my current electric shaver just because of the time it takes to shave my whole head. Which is probably around 5 minutes or so.
With the Manscaped Dome Shaver Pro, I get a nice, close shave without any irritation in less than 90 seconds. This is pretty impressive, considering that the shave is almost as close as using a bladed razor.
This has changed the game when it comes to shaving my head. I can now shave daily with minimal time added or without having to adjust my morning routine.
I can take a minute or two before jumping in the shower. And, like I said previously, I can get a skin-close shave without having to bust out the bladed razor and shaving cream.
Overall, I absolutely LOVE The Dome Shaver Pro Review. So far, there aren’t any cons to this shaver.
If you prefer a bald head, I highly recommend adding it to your grooming toolbox.
Manscaped Dome Smoother Head Aftershave Lotion Review
Manscaped also sent their Dome Smoother head aftershave lotion to pair with the shaver. It really helped soothe my skin after shaving and has prevented any irritation. As you may know, irritation can happen with even the best shavers.
The Dome Smoother head aftershave lotion is dermatologist-tested for sensitive skin and is alcohol-free. That prevents you from having a Kevin McAllister Home Alone moment!
It also has a clean, fresh scent that isn’t overpowering. It left my head feeling nice, cool, and moist.
