In 1986, he cast Paul Newman and Tom Cruise in The Color of Money, which was Scorsese’s first mainstream film. After its success, Scorsese was able to break ground on his passion project, The Last Temptation of Christ (1988).
1990s Scorsese-directed Movies
After playing around with different formats, classic Scorsese returned to form with the 1990 hit Goodfellas. Film critic Roger Ebert called it “the best mob movie ever,” and there’s no doubt a lot of people still feel that way thirty years after its release.

Scorsese has been married five times. His fifth and current wife, Helen Schermerhorn Morris, wed him back in 1999. They have been together for over twenty years and share one daughter, Francesca.
Prior to marriage, Helen was a well-respected book publisher at Random House. While she prefers to stay out of the limelight, she’s now known as a generous philanthropist.
Scorsese has two other children, including the actress and director Domenica Cameron-Scorsese (age 44) .
Scorsese directed her in The Age of Innocence (1993). She played Katie Blenker. Domenica was just 16 years old during filming. And that wasn’t even her earliest gig! In his 1991 film Cape Fear, she appeared as “Danny’s Girlfriend.”
But Domenica isn’t the only Scorsese daughter to appear in her father’s films. Francesca Scorsese (age 21) appears in The Departed (2006) and The Aviator (2004). And Domenica herself directed Francesca in 2016’s Almost Paris.
Of course, Cathy couldn’t let Domenica and Francesca have all the fun on screen. Yes, you guessed it. Scorsese’s oldest daughter Cathy (age 55) is also in the entertainment industry. While she has a few acting credits to her name, Cathy Scorsese mostly works in set design.
She was in the art department on several of her father’s projects including 2010’s Shutter Island and The Departed. Cathy was even on set back in 1995 as the assistant property master for Casino.
Clearly, filmmaking runs in the family.
